Adam Marshall đź’™
If you have attended one of our sessions, or checked out our photos, you will have noticed the above top at each session. Let us tell you the story behind the shirt.
Adam Marshall is someone we never had the pleasure of knowing personally. Unfortunately, Adam become known to us during the arrangements of his funeral following his passing. He was only 18 years old.
Adam has been described as “one in a million” and anyone we have spoken to always say he was the life and soul of the party. A caring and loving young man who loved his football. Beloved by everyone who crossed paths with him.
In January 2020, we received a message from the directors taking care of Adam’s funeral arrangements. His family had advised they wanted to raise funds for a local mental health charity, and the directors had recommended ourselves to be the beneficiary of this.
Between this and funds raised at a friends birthday party, we received over £700 from Adam’s friends and family in his memory. Following the pandemic, Adam’s family held a fundraising night in his memory as it would have been his 21st birthday. This night raised an amazing £2300, which the family once again donated this to ourselves.
This is the reason we have one of our fundraising team tops with Adam’s name and age on the back at our sessions. Funds raised in Adam’s memory have helped us continue to provide regular sports sessions for free to those struggling mentally within our area, and have helped create a safe space for people to come for support.
Adam will never be forgotten by his family and friends, and he will always be a part of what we do here at the C9 Foundation. We can never thank his family enough for the kind donations either.
Rest in peace, Adam đź’™
